I'd take my chances with that over counting on a factory seat and a five point to save my ass in a nasty off track excursion.
Last guy that died out at WSIR, word is he had some narrow harness setup using stock seats. He came out.
Go for the safety gear or don't, but don't do it halfway, it's more dangerous than stock.
Having said all that, the original poster never did say what the car was being used for so that may all be irrelevant. Just keep in mind that track style safety gear is designed to work as a system.
