If it's anything like the SLK mechanism, I don't know if you'd want to try to rebuild it. Honestly given the price of a new one, I don't see how it can be a bad idea (worst case the repairs fail or the thing gets so hopelessly mangled in disassembly you end up having to buy a new one anyway).

Is the car under warranty by chance? If so, I'd just have it replaced. If not, yank it and try to fix it - can't see the harm in trying. Maybe a hydraulics place would have the seals/o-rings you need. I'm skeptical that the dealer sells those as separate parts (probably just the entire part).
