Interesting bit of history there. I grew up in Boston and lived more than half my life there and I never even heard of this incident. Very interesting. I suspect that Commonwealth Street is what is today known as Commonwealth Avenue, right along the waterfront area... I'll forward this to relatives that live back there; maybe they know of this incident and can tell me more.
