My two brothers and I had the opportunity to operate this locomotive in the mid 1970's in Snoqualmie, Washington. It's an old Baldwin built 2-6-6-2 Mallet, or compound locomotive. Two sets of six driving wheels, with the front cylinders running off the exhaust steam from the rears (note the larger size of the fronts, due to their lower operating pressure).

It's received a cosmetic restoration that was completed last year, and will be up and running again in another year or two. When we drove it, it was still in original, unrestored condition.
