My wonderful wife of 25 years, Donna and my 23 year old daughter Stacey are dong a City of Hope Walk for Breast Cancer. Five years ago, Donna was diagnosed with breast cancer, they caught it early and while she had to have surgery, she avoided chemo and radiation.
Here is a message Donna sent me in an email. You can click on her website and if you can donate a few bucks, we'd be really grateful. If a lot of Pelicans donate a few bucks each, it could be significant.
Here is what Donna wrote:
Please help Stacey and I raise funds for City of Hope by forwarding this email to those that might be able to help! This month marks my 5 year survivor date from Breast Cancer and I would really like to make a difference for others suffering from this disease.
I'm joining City of Hope in the fight against breast cancer, by participating in their Walk for Hope.
The money I raise and others help me to raise -- will support the incredible breast cancer research, treatment and education programs at City of Hope, an amazing cancer center that is saving lives every day.
Did you know that breast cancer has become the second leading cause of cancer death among women? There are more than 180,000 new cases diagnosed each year and more than 40,000 will die from the disease. But I believe we can change these statistics.
So I've decided to raise $1,000 in donations and you can help me reach that goal, and help City of Hope in the process. Please consider making a fully tax-deductible donation to help me meet my goal? Any amount would be greatly appreciated; even a few dollars from enough people can add up quickly.
