Yes it has been done. I've seen a few pictures on Pelican of cars set up this way. They may be in the Random 911 pics thread.
Personally I wouldn't do it, but then some folks probably wouldn't run a 935 mirror on a widebody backdate either. I say do whatever you like!
They would be a much better option vs. SC style flag mirrors that's for sure!
