Ign Lock Cylinder

Better late than never. I just saw your post. If you haven't already pulled the steering wheel it has to be done. Clarks Garage shows how to do it, but the lock they show is an early 944. Your 86 has two torque bolt that the heads break off and have to be drilled out. This will require you to pull the dash out far enough to use the drill and easy outs to remove the bolts. That is IF you have to change out the entire lock. I was lucky enough that all I had to change was the unit at the rear of the key switch with the male plugs, two little screws. I had to break off the handle of a short stubby common screwdriver and grind down the sides (Now a special tool.) I used a pair of small long nose vise grips on the short shank of the screw driver to break the screws loose and out it came.

Best of luck,
Larry
