i had suggested bug webbing to ralf for the trip, but i don't remember why it didn't make the cut. i've used it in hawaii with great success....had a whole campground to myself because the gnats drove everyone else out.
might not work for mosquitos up north, but as ralf mentioned, they're pretty gnarly and persistent. ralf told me you can hit them hard, they stagger away, then get right back up and come at your again.
i've also heard that deet just doesn't cut it with those peterbilt-size bugs and the only way to get away from the mosquitos outdoors is with a hot tub and a snorkel.
