True story...
Years ago I was delivering the baby of an enormous woman. She was about a biscuit shy of 400 pounds. I tried to estimate the size of the baby using ultrasound but the sound waves would not penetrate her abdomen. I thought about borrowing a SONAR unit from the navy. I figured if they could map the ocean floor with a SONAR unit, I might be able to have a look at this baby. But I digress...
With a mighty grunt, this lady pushed out a toddler. The baby was 12 pounds! After a few moments, the woman started yelling at me; "Why didn't you TELL me the baby was so big?!" Without hesitation, the woman's husband responded; "Honey, you could have had a Volkswagen in there. How was the doc gonna know?"
