i also have some mushrooms growing outside, related to portobello's (which incidentally are the same mushroom, more or less, as the common button mushrooms you get at the grocery store), growing where we had a maple tree removed. they are growing on the remainder of the stump, etc., still in the ground. my friend ate one and said it was delicious.
