I'm good with thongs, bikinis, boy shorts, nothing, whatever.
But, to me, thongs poking out of the top of a pair of pants is tacky. It just means the girl isn't very good at dressing herself. If she's bent over and you can barely see them, that's one thing, but when they are visible regardless of how she's standing, not good.
