We are currently in the process of re-doing our house and have been talking to an architect to help design it...
My question is,how do you pay the architect ?
He wants 7% of the total project with the following breakdown.
a)-Concept 15%
b)-Drawing 15-20%
c)-Construction documents 35%
d)-Construction 25%
The project will be well into $300,000+ ....
I asked him about the differences in clause c and d and he couldn't come up with a concrete answer...
The problem is,yesterday he brought some detailed drawings of the concept we have worked up along with an invoice of $7000
We have always told him that we first need to get a floor plan so that we can discuss it with a builder to see if this project is even with in our budget or not.. and he is,all worked up with 3-D images of the house with the floor plans that we didn't even like...
