Byron, you gotta bigger pair than I do! Although you hear stories (urban myths?) about people pulling, hammering and even shooting their own teeth out, very few actually have, unless the tooth was already very loose. It has been my experience that even loose teeth are not that easy to get out. If it was a back tooth it is usually multirooted, so it is a good idea to keep all the pieces to show your dentist (when you get a chance) to see if it looks like you got it all. An X-ray will confirm this.
The bright side? Just like repairing your own Porsche, you just saved a couple hundred dollars by doing it yourself!!
