Of course laws may be different there, but here they could escalate it to small claims court. If there's no response from the debtor, it goes to a default judgment then wage/bank account garnishments, all of which show up on a credit report as different entries then the initial collection action. So yes, there is indeed more they can do.
Again, this is hypothetical. Here, SCC costs run about $250 from initial claim to obtaining judgment to garnishment procedures. Nobody in their right mind would spend that on $77. Even with interest, it couldn't be more than $200.
