Negative experiences with banking
My own negative experience with the banking system:
1). When I was 13, my third job provided me a checking account which I somehow managed to bounce by $.11 (eleven cents).
-A week later (the parents were out of town), the daily late fees had acumulated to $55.....50,000% interest for one week! So much for "actual damages".
2). When I was 22(working fast food), I left an appartment with written permission from the manager. The other tenant was to take responsibility for the lease but apparently moved out(someone was living there).
-Four years after that, I found out the credit bureau had placed a hit on my credit report for $2,700. Had a talk with them, explained the situation, and they said they "would take care of it". They didn't.
-Eleven years later, I couldn't get a $100K "no-doc" home loan from California WaMu, with a $25-60K year job and 80-90% down!
I couldn't get a Sears card or even an IAM card(so much for Union protection).
Meanwhile, over the next couple of years, California real estate tripled.....
-The credit bureaus wouldn't even send me the information/complaint forms without me sending them a lot of uneeded info(birth certificate, copy of drivers license, copy of lease, etc..). I had lived in the same appartment, and had the same bank account, for over 5 years.
Needless to say, these billion dollar bailouts irks me somewhat.
What's yours?
