The guy that made the firing system put some thought into it. It has to be armed before firing. He had posted some video of the setup on the prototyping board, but isn't talking about the details

As for the wind, I'm more of a thermal flier. Wind/slope soaring is boring for me. Ya gotta have some good thermals though...
