I was invited to Dayton, Ohio to speak at a conference. The organizers held a reception at the home of the Wright Brothers, Hawthorn Hill, to thank both the volunteers responsible for the conference and the speakers.
The home was designed in 1914 after the Wright Brothers success. The home was owned by NCR for much of the late twentieth century and was only recently returned to the Wright estate.
Gratefully, the Wright family allows certain groups to host events at Hawthorn Hill as well as school tours.
The neat thing was a great, great grandson, Steve, was there for the evening and told some really great stories, as relayed to him by his grandfather, about the house and the Wright brothers . The number of luminaries that stayed at Hawthorn (including two of my favorites, Carl Sandburg and Charles Lindbergh) was impressive.
Some BB pics, the last of which was the small study, which has been preserved. Sorry for the quality.
