not sure what ground fault he is talking about. would like to know more.

the contacts in the solenoid get burned and erroded away from the hi current. it can be removed, the contacts cleaned and rotated to fresh meat. about half the contact hits the 2 large screw heads inside, so rotating them 180 puts new surface in contact with the lugs.
problem is, you need to know how to solder. if i had a spare starter, i would do a thread, with pics, on doing this. it can even be done without removing the solenoid from the starter. mine started slow not long ago, maybe mine is next.

actually, it is the lugs you remove and rotate.
