I find it odd that people are comparing new models to a 72. If that's the case, why would anyone pay $300K for a 73 RS ? I mean you could buy a couple of current GT2's right?

I also think the 993 is far from their values bottoming out. These cars will soon become old enough that maintentance and general comfort makes using them as daily drivers impractical for most people. I think they'll fall quite a bit before they truly become collectable as the last air cooled 911. Just my opinion of course.

I find early 911's offer resonable investment value (if purchased correctly), and a unique and fun driving experience. It's certainly not about them being fast, because standard (compared to modern cars) they're not. But they have an indefinable ability to put a big smile on the drivers face :-)

For what it's worth, if I was buying an early car at present I'd buy a stock standard S, or a lower cost hot rodded T.
