As with most modifications the cooler scoop is a compromise, if you want to drive around with a hole in your car where once was a light, then do it. You could also cut big holes in the fenders and hood to let more air in. The problem is , most people do not want to cut up thier cars just for a occasional romp at the track so the alternitive is something like the cooler scoop. The scoop requires no permenent mods to the car and can be removed very easly should it be necessary {for show car events etc} . In fact the scoop collects more air than if the side light were removed and no scoop provided.
