One of the factors of good AC is also going to be the size of the interior. Take two trucks, one with a regular cab (1 bench seat) and another that is the SUV or crew cab version of the same truck so 2x, 3x, or 4x the interior volume. It's going to take a lot longer to cool the giant SUV down than the regular old pick-up.
When I had my '88 and the AC was in good shape, it would freeze me out of the car here in Houston. The secret was having it charged up and in shape and keeping the passenger's side vent closed.
