I went ghetto with mine. Siliconed a metal disk to the windscreen and stuck the Garmin adhesive one to that. The power cord acts as a leash. 
Your way looks a lot more professonal
I'd really like to find an instrument cluster that I could cut out the speedo and flush mount my 650
