But that's NOT the whole story.

He is married. Has four kids. He lives with his wife and kids. He doesn't have any other kids and has never been married before his current marriage.

It seems that someone else (who owes massive child support) has been using his SSN on his own income tax returns. He had a meeting with the IRS a few months ago after they rejected his return where they accused him of tax fraud for listing his four children as dependents, because "they live with their mother" according to the IRS agent. Well this is true, but the mother lives with him. He took his wife and kids to the meeting with the IRS and was accused of "staging a ruse". They sent the local police arrest him (presumably after some paperwork and other bureaucratic nonsense).

He was in and out of jail within an hour. The local police believe him. That doesn't solve his problem. Now he's worried about having his wages garnished as he is "in the system" as a deadbeat dad now.
