Here in Illinois, you can't do anything online and the DMV refuses to accept incoming mail. Other than a vehicle sticker, the EVERYTHING has to be done in person at the DMV and THEY have to mail it to the central office for processing. And they delight at telling you that you have the wrong forms...or signatures...or documentation. Nothing can ever be accomplished in one trip. Oh, and they don't answer the phone, so it's not like you can call ahead and find out what you need to do. The website is useless if you don't already know what form you are looking for. It doesn't have a search function either. Not that it matters what it says anyway, as the DMVer may decide to follow their own procedure. Nope everything requires TWO trips to the DMV. And just because you've done something before doesn't mean that the person at the counter won't randomly change the procedure just for their own sick amusement.

My wife and I decided to register the 951 in my name only as I seem to recall forgetting to have her sign the title and it being a problem in the sale of some other vehicles. The lady at the DMV would NOT let me register it on my own. She insisted that because the old Porsche was in both of our names, the new one had to be in both of our names. She was making $h!t up. I think she thought she was somehow "protecting" my wife. Nope, she was just causing me a hassle for her own enjoyment.
