The new Electrolux is NOT the same as the Electrolux you remember from years past. They sold the brand name and are now Aerus.
That said, we HATE our GE Profile dishwasher as does my sister. We have the same ones. Our GE fridge GSH22JFTD WW makes noise all the time. Does not seem to maintain temperature as a constant. The ice maker is SLOW. Do not like!
We had a VERY basic, small Maytag fridge in Texas. Worked great, quiet!!! We have a Maytag in the basement (MFF2557HEB) and I swear it coughs! Keeps the temperature maintained easily at normal settings.
We had a Kenmore (Maytag) dishwasher in Texas. Near the top of the line, it did a WONDERFUL job and was very, very quiet. We also had the portable type that was very basic. They still sell them. Both do a MUCH better job of cleaning than the GEs.

Also, The Electrolux Group of Sweden was able to start importing and distribution their Electrolux vacuum cleaners in the USA through their subsidiary, The Eureka Company. One limitation on the distribution of their Electrolux brand vacuums in the USA still exists though... they may not be sold through vacuum cleaner specialty stores until June of 2007.
April 1, 2004 is quite important as well for the Electrolux name since it is the date that The Eureka Company officially changed its name to Electrolux Home Care Products North America (Electrolux Home Care Products Ltd). This name change reflects who they are and have been for the past 30 years, a subsidiary of The Electrolux Group of Sweden. As such, they will continue to manufacture and market vacuum cleaners and other products under the Eureka, Sanitaire and Beam brand names plus additional products under the Electrolux brand name. "
