Your window regulator is probably worn...
Just to confirm.. when you're in the car and door is closed and you pull the handle.. the window should drop about 1/2 inch to clear the top. If it doesn't and it "catches" the upper rubber.. it's the window regulator that is worn out.
There is a cable in there connected to a motor that lowers and raises the window when you pull the handle. Not uncommon to have it stretch and wear out.
A new one can be had from dcauto.com and can be installed in about 1 to2 hours. INstructions are online.
Alternatively, if the door is open and you pull the outside handle and the window drops 1/2 inch.. it is the lock mechanism in the door and a bad switch. Normally the window SHOULD NOT drop at all when the door is open and you pull on the outer door handle.
Had both things above go on my boxster.
