Dogs do see in black and white. If a dark skinned person's dog sees a light skinned person, or visa versa, it looks wrong to the dog, like a negative image. Hence a black man's dog is not likely to dig white folks, and the red neck's rover is unlikely to be too hip on black people. Much of this will be exacerbated by the reaction of the new person.
