You may still want to cut south-west through south central BC (Okanagan Valley) unless you have a driving need to go to Couer D'Alene again. Then through central Washington down to the Dalles Oregon. Stop for the best Mexican food north of anywhere (in the Dalles) and then cut west to the coast for the Oregon coastline. The Columbia River Gorge is pretty amazing.
Just a thought. If it strikes your fancy... let us know. There are lots of suggestions waiting for you regarding options for roads and routes.
