Update: Mom decided to hide
in the oval, but only took one of the kittens with her. That had to be quite the climb up the side of the bug, under the tarp, with a kitten in her mouth; judging by the scrapes in the side of the car, it took a couple of tries. I set a couple of milk crates next to the quarter window to make it easier next time. I grabbed the other two which were still under the car and put them in the passenger-side footwell with mom. Kitten #4 is still MIA
I hunted around, but couldn't find it anywhere. She may have taken it across the street where she 'lives'
