i have made them a few times...friends/family loved them...but i like my tomatoes ripe off my vines. i thought the breading is typically cornmeal based?...i cannot remember. i did them japanese style, tempura. i salt them once out of the hot oil. before hand draws out too much moisture and the crunchy skin falls off.
