Let me first start by saying, I can't stand having someone else pump my gas. However, I think the "rationale" is that insurance is cheaper for the gas station if they have "trained professionals" pumping the gas. What I do not understand is that gas is usually
cheaper in OR now, compared to WA.
I can only assume that WA has tacked on so many taxes, they are now equivalent (or higher) than a state that has to pay a gas jockey as well.
You are correct on your "too stupid" comment. I can't tell you the number of times I see a driver w/ OR plates scratching their heads at the pump. Most of them tend to be in the 40+ age range. I find it hard to believe that in the 40+ years they've been on the planet, that I'm witnessing their first attempt at pumping their own gas.
