cilantro would ruin it, the flavor of fried green tomatoes is very distinctive. Maybe the chili sauce after cooking, I have had them with it and it is tasty, lime in your batter might not work out too well.
My wife is no yankee and makes it with beer, instead of milk, similar to the recipe posted.
