I have a Jayco popup camping trailer. I've paid $71/year for tag renewal for years. A few friends have PTL tags. I investigated and took the trailer down to the DMV today (with appointment) and got it converted to a Permanent Trailer License for $20 for 5 years. Thus saving about $350 in license fees over the next five years. If you have a boat trailer you can do this as well. Applies to certain types of trailers, mine has a shower, toilet, kitchen. With an appointment, it took about 20 minutes. YMMV
