The only big pet peeve I have is that the sink MUST be recessed - not the stainless drop-in with a lip. You need to be able to wipe the counter into the sink without it getting caught up on anything.
Beyond that as long as the stove is gas I'm happy. I've lived in places with really small/crappy kitchens so it doesn't take much to please me.
