When I was in high school there was a trailer out on Church road with a large vacant lot behind it full of old VW's and one or two 356's. I can remember one day poking around back there looking at a Karman Ghia tub and seeing a small 356 engine with two distributor caps. I had no idea what I was looking at, but I can clearly remember thinking "why on earth would that little motor need two distributors".
Sigh... it's all gone now. Don't know what happened to the old man.
