I loved his guitar playing - even as a child back in the early '50s.
And what he did to her voice, Wow!
.
I recall watching Merle Travis receive some kind of award/trophy about 25 - 30 yrs. ago...while on stage he mentioned that he taught Les Paul the rudiments of LP's style. He looked over to LP and said, "Would you teach me back?"
.
Thanks for those music links. I have never watched him work.
.
My favorite by them.
Lyrics, that are so simple and sweet, by Eugene Lockhart, with the most endearing and enduring version.
"The World is Waiting for the Sunrise"
.
Dear one, the world, is waiting for the sunrise.
Every rose is covered with dew.
And while, the world, is waiting for the sunrise.
My heart is calling you.
.
Dear one, the world, is waiting for the sunrise.
Every little rose bud is covered with dew..
And my heart is calling for you.
.
The thrush, on high, his sleepy mate is calling,
And my heart, is calling you.
