Yep, and what killed it was almost a 20% surcharge for fuel alone.

Going to do that. The PO was trying to get me to trailer it, but turns out that he is a doctor type who said "only way I ever drive cross country is by rental car" so there is more going on there.
Have a friend who wants to make the drive, so will send him up on SouthWest and he will visit family on the way back. I have two free tickets on SWA, so thats a big help. If the price was under $1000 would think about it but not for $1600 or so.
