Something Odd Happened Last Night...

First the basics.

71 914-4
2.0
Single Weber
Side Shift Trans
Sealed Halogen Lights
Normal stereo - nothing hi powered... Been installed 5 years
VDO Cyl head temp guage, oil press guage, oil temp guage - installed 10 years ago.
Gel Cel type battery.

Last night, driving around at night looking at the fireworks with the top off....

Alternator light came on (dull red)
Push brake pedal in, Alternator light Bright red, Tach drops to zero.
Turn on turn signal, Alternator light Bright red, Tach drops to zero.

Pull over, check fuses, none blown. Turn ignition switch on, no alternator light, no oil pressure light

Carefully drive home, recheck fuses and connections. Still does same thing.

Grab book, and beer..... Decided might be voltage regulator sticking.

This morning, everything is fine

Any Ideas?
