Welcome to the board. Most likely valves and valve guides are shot. Carrera's have been known for early valve guide wear. This is some thing that needs to be taken care of right away. Factory spec on oil consumption was 500-600 miles per quart. The valves get cooled by contacting the valve seat. If they don't make contact they get too hot and you run the risk of a valve breaking and the damage that follows will increase the dollars to fix by a lot. A top end will cost from $2000 doing yourself and up to $5000 to have it done. When having it fixed replace the lower twelve dilavar head studs with factory steel as they will break. The top twelve are already steel.
