I could do with some heavy drinking right now. Another night shift. Among all the little ones, we just received a 17 year old guy with chest pains. I was occupied in the delivery room with a newborn that refused to start breathing, so I just told one of the nurses on the phone that I would require an ECG. Five minutes later she comes running, ECG out-print in her hand, shouting it looks bad. She hands me the print and sure enough it looks like a serious heart attack - but wait a minute. Looking closer I noticed the suspicious signs of wrongly attached ECG cords. I told her to go back and do it all over again. She gave me a suspicious look and left. Another five minutes and she is back, now with a completely normal reading.
