Only problem is a flare gun doesn't have a flat trajectory. You have to be almost point-blank to hit your target. Out of curiosity (boredom?) I fired one out my back door toward a 10' concrete wall (about 30' away). I aimed dead-center at the wall (about 5' from the ground). Whoooossshhh...Well, lo & behold, the flare immediately curved upward and cleared the wall, whizzing through the (busy) parking lot of the church next door.
I don't think I hit anyone, but I'm sure more than a few folks probably had to change their underwear.
