I decided pretty quickly to buy the new rim. Then I had to decide if I needed a new tire or not. The was no visible damage, but I kept thinking about the possibility of a blowout at highway speeds. If that did happen, the bare minimum I would have paid would be another $200 for rim and tire. The tire was cheap insurance, especially because I am not even driving the car right now, my mom is to keep miles off of her car. I would have felt really bad if something broke down while she was driving it.
