Yes, you could do that. You can see the pressure plate bolts through the hole where the starter goes, so you'd have to remove the starter. Don't replace them with just anything. They need to be a high enough grade. Pelican sells them for like $1.75 apiece and there's 9 of them. You cannot remove the belhousing with the torque tube and tranny still in place, though. Possibly why there are bolts missing. Someone was dumb enough to think that they could get away easy doing a clutch job, found out otherwise, and just left it. Transmission must come out, exhaust system must come out, torque tube unbolted and pulled back about a foot in order to access the clutch.
