Not sure where you are getting this info, but Subaru is owned by parent company FUJI HEAVY IND., not Mitsubishi.
The tech buy could be true for either company, but I can't see how Porsche has any rights to the flat four design (or any overall engine architecture), hence I don't think anyone bought anything. Sounds like internet rumor to me.
Subaru's are nice, but just because both have a flat engine doesn't make them similar to P-cars. Just like a Caprice Classic with a V8 isn't similar to a Ferrari F430.
I don't delude myself into thinking I have some trickle down rally car Porsche in my driveway. Subaru's are nice for other reasons.
