I just realized I have Monday off. No wonder it's so dead around here!
Both my manager and I fully realize that "I don't have the skills for that work" is a short-term excuse at best, and a poor one at that. The problem is that the powers-that-be have decided that no one is allowed to do any Java work without Java training. In the past week I've done
VB, SAS, and COBOL work--none of which I have "official" company training in, but there's a big iron gate around Java.
I'm hoping to get into the Java training after Christmas, but 11 weeks is a big time commitment and it's difficult for me to find a continuous 11 weeks that I can give up.
