I designed and built mine.

I bought 2' wide Stainless sheets, turned-up the long edges 3/4" in on both sides, and dropped them in between the joists (2' oc). The turned-up 'flange' nailed to the side of the joist, with the whole panel sloping down to the gutter.

TO keep water from leaking along side the joists I made joist 'roofs.' --On top of the joists, and under the decking, copper flashing ~10" wide. Centered and bent along the top of the joist --just ~30° downward bend. --the copper is soft, and easy to bend inplace.
