this lady in a beat-up first generation Cavalier was headed toward the back of my car. She was trying to park but this was no normal parking attempt. She ran over the curb and I could only look on with my mouth wide open as she just didn't slow down enough - - she thumped right into my bumper.

From the noise the bump made I was expecting scratched paint and a small dent. Fortunately when she did back up and I looked at things, she had actually managed to slow down enough (probably 2 mph) that with the bumper pads there was no damage.
This wasn't parallel parking "park by feel" She had a straight path in. She wasn't drunk or high or anything. Just one horrible driver.
I've always wanted to go with fibreglass bumpers, but it's stuff like this that stops me.

My 924S is more like a 4th car and I have a Suburan if I ever have to go to a mall....
