I just finished the trim on my mancave yesterday, so it's officially done. I was renting the basement to a friend attending college & he moved out last month after graduating. The previous owner used it as a rugby party bar, so I had to pull out the corrugated sheet metal ceiling & install sheet rock. The carpet was installed about a year ago. The room is fairly small, 12X12 & opens into a 12x12 kitchen area.
The first thing I bought was a new sectional. I found the TV stand & Fluance SXHTB+ 5.1 speaker system on Craigslist for really good prices. I bought the PS3 the day they dropped the price to $300. I bought the Acoustic Audio HD-SUB12 & Harmony adapter for my PS3 off ebay & picked up the VIZIO VF550XVT1A from Costco. I chose an entry level 5.1 receiver that does everything I need (Denon AVR-1610). The surrounds are hanging near the kitchen.
This is my first HD system & it is tough to watch regular TV now. I was able to accomplish this for under $4k, probable less than some of you payed for your TVs alone. I'm pretty pleased with the final result for a buget system.
Anyone else care to show off their mancave?
