I was in Boston when this happened (I'm from NY) and probably saw flight 11 take off from Logan that morning. Almost all flights were visible from my office's windows. I still remember my girlfriend, now wife, calling me and telling me that a plane had hit The Towers. I was the first one to break the news to everyone at work. I had several friends in The Towers and luckily most made it out alive.
I just came back from a visit w/ my parents in NY and just stared for what seemed like forever at a 9/11 display at the NYS Museum. They had a destroyed fire truck, a lone police officer's badge and parts of the plane's landing gear (among other things) all on display. I tear up just thinking about what happened that day and all of the good people we lost.
My biggest regret is that I didn't follow my heart and leave my job to see if I could be of any assistance. One of my biggest angers is that most stats include the 19 POS terrorists in the death tole. To those who have forgotten what happened 8 years ago - get the F*#K out of my country! To bin Laden - there are enough of us that have not forgotten. Your day is coming soon.
