your link to the lesson didnt impress me. jack johnson is a good player to try to play like, but its gonna take some time. he is quite good. when i started, there was no internet. i used chord books, and tab books and tried to play along with records

now, you can find many great visual tutorials on youtube, or you can buy dvd lessons.

i would start by picking a song you want to learn that is somewhat basic and then do what you must do, to learn it.

ultimately you need to learn all the left hand and right hand "tricks" in order to play well. pull-0ffs, slides, hammer-ons etc... and combine it all....you can hear jack johnson doing that in the video you posted

if you can make it through some of the junk in these vids, listen to richard thompson's tips. they are pretty good and will give you and overview of what you need to accomplish
